2.On how to pick a story idea — You could pick a current eventand choose a different angle. Or, you could check various eventschedules/anticipate what’s coming in the next few weeks (relatedto various social/political/community events — to give you an idea– new administration/Valentine’s Day/sporting events/events aroundcampus/town/region/country/world) and choose to cover that.

3.On how to pitch it — You can be informal about it as it isjust a class discussion board where we share and discuss ideas –you can begin by simply stating what your story topic is. If youhave links to a story based on which you want to write your newsstory, provide those links or explain how you got the idea.Describe why it’s worthy of pursuit, its significance — why is itnewsworthy? You can choose from the different types ofnews-worthiness described in the powerpoint presentations.
