1. For each of the questions below, you must use the twoformulas :

Each question requires you to solve for one of thevariables, g, t, n, N, and No. A strategy for tackling thesequestions can be to identify which variables you have been givenand then solve for the remaining one. In most cases you will haveto use both equations.  

(a) You inoculate a flask of fresh medium with 5x104exponentially growing bacterial cells and after 4 hours you have8x108 cells

i) how many generations have the bacteria gonethrough?

Use given formulas to calculate the # of generations (n)the bacteria cells have gone through. Assume bacteria doubles every30 min.

(b) You inoculate a flask of fresh medium with 3×10^4exponentially growing bacterial cells and after 5 hours you have8x10^8 cells. What is the generation time of this bacterialculture?

(c) Given the same question above, how many cells wouldyou have if the bacterium that you inoculated with has a generationtime of 20 min rather than 30 min? (Hint – either convert the 2.5hours to min or the 20 min to hours).
