Submission of the Dissertation Research Proposal to the Center for Doctoral Studies (CPSY 9000). The student must have, at least, two other published works (see Program Guide). CPSY 9000 comprises three separate courses: CPSY 9001, CPSY 9002, and CPSY 9003. Each course is required for the doctoral degree. Students are required to complete all three courses. 1. Topic: Antitrust Law and Consumer Protection. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the common law antitrust doctrine, as well as the basic statutes and administrative regulations dealing with market- power, mergers, and unfair trade practices. 2. Skills: Student will demonstrate an understanding of the need for vigilance on the part of government and business to maintain appropriate competitive balance in order to allow for optimal decision making by both parties. • Demonstrate competence in developing and conducting research on a selected topic. • Demonstrate the ability to write a research proposal, which includes an introduction, literature review, hypothesis, methods of data collection and analysis, results and interpretation and discussion of findings. • Demonstrate the ability to conduct a primary study (including the development of questions) and review related literature. • Apply statistical knowledge to analyzing quantitative data with confidence. • Develop an effective method for communicating research findings to the appropriate audience within academic communities.
CPSY 9000 Week 3 Pre-requisites
The dissertation is your opportunity to engage in research and writing as a means to fulfill your course objectives. The research for the dissertation should have been planned in advance, so you should begin your research during Week 1. You will have a minimum of 100 pages, of which at least 50 pages is required. Your proposal and final dissertation must be approved by your committee prior to submission. This is a capstone experience, and it should not take you longer than two years to complete.
