CMIS 4999 Course Description: CMIS 4999 Course is an individualized learning experience that enables students to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during their CMIS 4999 Coursework in the Master of Science in Information Systems program. Students will work on a team to complete a research-based project. Students will use their knowledge of systems analysis, design and implementation to develop a working information system prototype, which will be demonstrated at the end of the semester. Students are expected to perform all activities necessary for completion of the capstone project throughout the semester including but not limited to problem definition, research, analysis, design, implementation and testing.

CMIS 4999 Course Description: CMIS 4999 Course provides an overview of the information systems capstone experience and applies knowledge learned from prior CMIS 4999 Courses to develop a proposal for a major project. Students will be expected to apply their technical knowledge to a complex problem by conducting independent research and developing recommendations for further action.

CMIS 4999 Week 12 Learning Outcomes
In CMIS 4999 Course, students will be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
• Understand and apply knowledge of business processes, functions, and organizations to the analysis and design of information systems.
• Understand and apply knowledge of project management concepts and tools to the development and implementation of information systems.

CMIS 4999 Week 12 Assessment & Grading
The Capstone Project is a comprehensive examination of an issue, problem, opportunity, or other topic related to the student’s chosen field of concentration. The project requires the student to synthesize and integrate knowledge and skills acquired through their academic program of study. This includes a focus on identifying and researching a significant topic in the field; developing, evaluating and recommending solutions; communicating findings orally and in writing; and demonstrating personal and professional ethics. Grades for this class will be determined by the following:

CMIS 4999 Course provides the opportunity for students to apply knowledge and skills acquired in prior CMIS 4999 Coursework to a significant project that integrates across the information systems curriculum. Students will select, define, and complete an independent, original research project that demonstrates an in-depth understanding of information systems concepts and their application in business environments. Prerequisites: Admission to the Bachelor’s program, Senior standing; completion of at least 96 credit hours; completion of all required 400-level CMIS CMIS 4999 Courses except CMIS 490 with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50; completion of (or concurrent registration in) STAT 301 or 304 or equivalent.
